Skillpoint's Programs Strengthen Austin CommunitySkillpoint Alliance strengthens the community by facilitating events that meet the needs of both industry and education. Our partnerships with the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, City of Austin and Travis County weave us into the very fabric of Austin. Several of Skillpoint’s programs are directly tied to the City’s Economic Development Plan and seek to address the needs of emerging technology industries.  Ronald Smith evacuated from Hurricane Katrina and arrived in Austin with only $40. He came to Skillpoint Alliance where we helped him obtain skills in construction through our adult workforce program, Construction Gateway. He then found employment with Zachry Construction in Austin. “Hope was a main element and this program, Construction Gateway, enhanced it and gave me the opportunity to expand my skills,” Smith said. “The people of Austin have been very generous to me.
