Educator Professional Development

Educator Professional Development (EPD) programs provide professional development opportunities for educators using innovative approaches. The centerpiece of EPD is the Summer Educator Institutes.

Teacher Residency Program @ TXSTATE

Skillpoint Alliance is working with the Texas State University Teaching Residency Program for Critical Shortage Areas (TRP-CSA); a master’s program that recruits talented, committed individuals of all ages and experience and provides them with the tools and resources to make an impact on the lives of children in AISD.

Particpants in the program receive:
•  A master’s degree in Secondary Education or Special Education in 14 months
•  A generous living stipend of $35,000 & tuition assistance
•  A State of Texas Teacher Certification

For additional information contact Patsy Reams, Recruiter: pr17@txstate.edu  or visit trp.education.txstate.edu

Counselor Industry Visits

Designed after a model Chamber of Commerce program, Counselor Industry Visits offer middle and high school counselors and directors of career and technology education an opportunity to meet with local experts about career opportunities for currently enrolled Central Texas students. Visiting corporate sites, participants talk with human resource personnel and business leaders to learn which skills and knowledge are required for students to become qualified for particular occupations within a specific industry. Workforce readiness and career awareness activities developed in concert with local schools and with the community-at-large yield greater student achievement, more satisfied employers, and therefore a better regional economic outlook.

College & Career Expo

The College & Career Expo is an annual event designed to increase awareness of college and career alternatives for high school students.

Hundreds of 9- to 14-year-olds participated in the Central Texas FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program thanks to the amazing support of parents, schools, mentors from local high tech companies, colleges and universities, and tons of volutneers.  Students engaged in hands-on probelm solving with LEGO Robotics while researching real-world issues and creating their own solutions. "This event was amazing," an FLL student participant said.  "My team had such a wonderful time. The energy and enthusiasm were unbelievable."
