Industry Councils

Industry councils are coordinated networks of industry representatives, education administrators, and community leaders committed to workforce and education development in order to support economic growth in Central Texas.

Technology & Education Executive Council

Semiconductor and advanced manufacturing companies working with education and community organizations.
Highlighted outcomes:
• Creation of Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology program at ACC to train and graduate fab technicians
• Development of industry-led professional development for middle and high school teachers focused on increasing knowledge of engineering and technology
• Support and advocacy for new State science graduation requirements 

Digital Media Council 

Web and game developers, animators, digital editors, interactive marketers and creative agencies working with high school and postsecondary education representatives and community organizations.
Highlighted outcomes:
• Worked with local officials to drive the creation and distribution of an economic impact study on the digital media industry in this region
• Contributed input to state leaders creating the Texas Production Incentives Program
• Hosted an Education Summit, engaging industry, government, and education in the discussion for the need for a 4-year degree program supporting the digital media industry in Central Texas

Adult Workforce Development Programs

Skillpoint's Adult Workforce programs, Community Technology Training Centers (CTTC) and Construction Gateway produce workers with the skill sets and knowledge demanded by today's employers.

Hundreds of 9- to 14-year-olds participated in the Central Texas FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program thanks to the amazing support of parents, schools, mentors from local high tech companies, colleges and universities, and tons of volutneers.  Students engaged in hands-on probelm solving with LEGO Robotics while researching real-world issues and creating their own solutions. "This event was amazing," an FLL student participant said.  "My team had such a wonderful time. The energy and enthusiasm were unbelievable."
