Intermediary Services
The growth of intermediaries is part of a broad trend within our economy and society toward fluid, networked, and interactive systems for organizing multi-partner communications and collaboration. Intermediaries bring the right people together to make a difference. Like other intermediary organizations, Skillpoint Alliance is driven by organizing public and private support for the policies and funding that is necessary to connect the classroom with the workplace and the community.
By working as a workforce intermediary, a facilitator, and promoter of workforce and educational change in the Central Texas region, Skillpoint Alliance helps improve college and career success for all youth and adults. Through its intermediary services and programs, Skillpoint has engaged and connected more than 350 employers, 12 school districts (160,000 enrollment), 24 post-secondary institutions, 30 community and non-profit partners, and 11 industry clusters. In 2007, Skillpoint served well over 6,200 clients with college and career awareness and workforce development services, which impacted well over 39,000 students, teachers, and community members in the Central Texas K-12 region.
Skillpoint’s foundational programming has two thrusts—one focusing on building the college and career awareness of youth in the emerging workforce and the other on the adult workforce providing critical entry-level skills in the construction and computer skill development for adults with significant barriers to employment.
Skillpoint Alliance provides a range of technical assistance services, including strategic planning support for workforce development initiatives, industry cluster development, and research and evaluation design and support. We provide the following types of services:
